Once a month we make a 6 hour round trip for my husbands schooling. We also have several trips planned for this summer including a 7 hour plane ride and a 2,100 mile RV road trip! (Both without Daddy!!) Sitting in the car is always the hardest time to keep his energy occupied. And I hate letting him play on the tablet and watch movies the whole time.
I recently came across Dry Erase Crayons. Which I think are an amazing invention because there is no way I want to give my almost 3 year old a marker. Finding these is what sparked my inspiration for this book.

I chose several different activities that I knew my toddler would enjoy. There are dozens of activity, math, and learning pages out there that can be printed and used as well. The wonderful thing is that you can add and take away pages with ease as your childs interests change and grow. I used my Cricut Expression 2 to cut all the shapes and words. There are dozens of cartridges such as Create a Critter, 50 States, Cursive 101, Word Builder's, or Speaking of School. To the back of the book I have added simple page protectors that I can use to rotate through coloring pages, but that while traveling can just be "erased" and recolored.
Here are a few of the other interactive pages:
Shape and color matching
Counting and number tracing
Practice writing your name
Small word and picture matching
Building block shapes and creations
Popsicle stick puzzles
I used velcro circles for all these pages. The page options are really endless. I simply used contact paper to laminate my pages because I already had some on hand but you can easy use Self-Adhesive Laminating Sheets. I hope that I have inspired you to create something amazing and would LOVE to hear your ideas so that I can continue to add to my son's book. Thanks for letting me share!
This is really cute! I like that you can add pages when if you think if another activity. What about matching capital letters to their lower case?
