Chicago 2014

Living the life style that we do, life can be pretty awesome at times. For example, we only live 5 hours away from Chicago!! This last weekend we were able to add another pin to our map of places visited. We had a wonderful mini vacation celebrating 6 amazing year of marriage. Here are a FEW pictures and stories about our adventure!

After driving 5 hours, stopping at 6 toll booths, 2 potty breaks, and a lunch break, we finally arrived in Chicago!! We headed straight to Navy Pier. For dinner we ordered 2 Deep Dish pizza and looked for a place to eat. The Crystal Gardens were beautiful. They had water fountains EVERYWHERE!

Monkey was so excited when he saw the Ferris Wheel. We reached the top (at 150 feet) at sunset and the views were spectacular. Plus I didn't throw up, only totally freaked out ;)
P.s. selfies with a DSLR camera are pretty tricky...

It took about 20 min to walk to the end of the pier. It was under construction so there wasn't much to see and having a stroller made it a little tricky. As you can see our selfies didn't turn out great, but it had started raining, the wind was blowing us away, and we were literally the only ones out there, so we called it quits with the camera!

Hubby and Monkey had a blast racing the motorized boats. Monkey cried when his turn was over... Haha!

Day 2 was raining and cold. While waiting for it to get warm, we headed to Shedd Aquarium! FYI: 2 year olds aren't very impressed with fish...

A Chicago Dog! He said it tasted just like the one you can order at Sonic... Hmmm...

It kept on raining and didn't get much warmer. So we bundled up and headed out! Millenium Park and the Cloud Gate. As well as a dirty diaper in public...

Being a Girl, I was VERY excited about walking The Magnificent Mile!! (Michigan Ave.)
Chicago Theather
We went into the Disney Store and Monkey lit up when he saw Buzz. Needless to say we couldn't leave the store without him... We also didn't get far before having to take him out of the packaging...

As we were walking we came across an Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. It smelled delicious and there wasn't a wait! Quartino's has the MOST delicious pizza!!!! It seriously was amazing. The Zeppole (Italian doughnuts) dipped in Dark Chocolate sauce were heavenly. My mouth is literally watering as I think about it... The atmosphere was loud and energetic! The waiters were all wearing soccer jerseys. Best dinner experience ever! I also had my first encounter with a bathroom attendant... Not sure how a felt about being waited on while in the restroom...

Chicago at night is fun. Everything is lit up and there are people EVERYWHERE!!
We also went for a train ride, which I'm sure was Monkey's favorite part of the whole trip.

Our last day in Chicago we spent on a boat taking a River Tour. I hadn't realized Chicago had so much interesting history.
We did not go to the top of Sears Tower during our visit. I am terrified of heights. During our boat tour we learned that a few months ago the glass skywalk had shattered with a family inside of it! Therefore, I am very grateful we skipped that attraction....

We had a spectacular trip and were sad to leave!
