Free Crochet Pattern | Simply Squares Blanket | Baby Blanket

Crocheting is my favorite form of therapy. Plus I have the need to constantly have my hands busy. I can't just sit there watching tv or being a passenger in the car. This soft and huggable crocheted blanket features the Simply Squares stitch pattern.

Free Crochet Pattern | Simply Squares Blanket

This gives a thicker and closer weave pattern than most crochet blankets. Simply Squares is my favorite baby blanket pattern because it gives more detail than just basic back and forth rows.

The pattern measures for a blanket approximately 40”X35”, but can easily be adjusted bigger or smaller. Just work in even numbers plus 1. This is a very simple pattern for beginning or novice crocheters! View pattern below or DOWNLOAD it and save for later.

Materials:
Yarn - I use Caron Simply Soft - Medium Weight (4)
Crochet Hook size 5mm

Free Crochet Pattern | Simply Squares BlanketPattern:

Ch 121.

Row 1. Hdc in the 2nd st from the hook. *Skip 1 st, then (sc, hdc) in the next st. Repeat from * across until 1 st remains. sc in remaining st, ch1 and turn.

Row 2. Hdc in first st.*Skip 1 st, then (sc, hdc) in next st. Repeat from * until 1 st remains. Sc in remain st, ch 1 and turn.

Repeat Row 2 until desired length. On very last row, fasten off instead of the ch 1 and turn.

Blanket looks great as is, or you can add 2 rounds of sc as an edge. remember to add 3 sc in each corner.

*This Pattern is not for resale. You may use this pattern for free and sell the items made.

Quilting Design Planner

I have always had a passion for creativity. God asks us to use our talents, and so I shall sew!! I really enjoy quilting. While living on the road, it has been my soul therapy. I reached a point where I had scraps of various papers with scribbles and sketches that I'm sure made sense at the time, but now have no meaning. And so if I ever try to recreate a quilt or idea, I stare at my scraps in total confusion. This is why I decided it was time for a Quilt Designing Planner/Journal.

My little Graduate!

I can't even handle how handsome my little guy is. Today was his Graduation from year 1 of Preschool. I asked him if he was sad that school is over and he said no. Haha! Typical boy...

Adventure Life has been a huge blessing in our life. This time last year we were working with therapists and worrying about the fact that he wasn't talking. He attended this school for only 5 months, and was able to catch up to the same level as his peers. I cannot even express how grateful I am for the wonderful program and teachers he had.

Next month he turns 4 years old. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home for the first time. Now he's graduating from preschool, riding a bike without training wheels, and telling my he's tough whenever he gets hurt. He will forever be my little guy who is full of big energy and attitude.

The good news is, I didn't cry during his little graduation ceremony. Even though I really wanted to!! Thanks again Mrs. Bergman and Mrs. Humble!

Little League and Pella Tulip Time

Look how stinking cute this kid is!! He had his first Tee Ball game this week. I had forgotten how entertaining it can be to watch those little guys. He loved it and was so excited to play!

We enjoyed watching dog piled fights over the ball, kids hitting the ball and then running to the dugout, and a lot of digging in the dirt!

Ryder played catcher (so cute!) the first inning and then pitcher the second. He hit the ball on the first swing both times he was up to bat! He sure is growing up fast...

I'm not crazy, but my life sure is!

People tell me all the time that my life must be an adventure. I explain our living situation and receive astonished reactions. If i was on the outside looking in, i would probably have the same reaction! But this is our 3rd year living full-time in our RV and so for us, it's just normal... Want an example of this so called crazy?

We drove to Georgia and back to spend Thanksgiving with friends. Then we drove to Arizona and back to spend Christmas with our families. Hubby transferred companies and had to spend 3 weeks living in hotels and would drive 3 hours to be home with us on weekends. And for the finale, we spent New Year's moving!

Stone Mountain Georgia

Thanksgiving was wonderful! We spent a week with our best of friends. Talking, laughing, staying up too late, watching our kids play, and eating amazing food! I'm still craving Brunswick Stew and Hushpuppies from that gas station BBQ restaurant!!! We have always considered the Jensen's our family away from home. Their friendship has gotten us through some of the worst and best times over the last 5+ years. We love you dearly...

We have spent all, but one, of our Christmas' together in Arizona. This one was by far my favorite one! There were so many wonderful and fun things that happened. There is nothing greater than the love of family.

Monkey was trying to see Grandpa's house!

I love this little family of mine. And we've discovered that we thrive in this tiny house of ours! Apparently our children love being crammed, piled up, and close together. I'm not going to lie, i love it too....

DIY Blog Planner

As we all know, Blogging can be a bit overwhelming. Especially if you are still new to it. I knew I needed to organize myself. I started searching for the perfect Blogging Planner. I had an idea of what I wanted it to include, and even though there are several free planners out there, none of them were exactly what I wanted. Here is how I easily designed my own Blogging Planner, and you can do it too!

Maternity Photos

I am 38 weeks pregnant with Baby #2! We are very excited for little sister to arrive. I was not going to have maternity pictures taken, but decided last minute to capture this milestone in our lives. We went to a park down the street and my husband took a few photos. They mean more to me that he took them because it's like looking at my pregnancy through his eyes.

We have officially been Glamping for 2 years! I cannot even believe it. It has truly been an adventure and we have loved every minute. Click {HERE} to see the video from our first year of Glamping!

We are about to welcome Baby #2 into this world any day. You all know what that means... Our adventure is going to get even more fun and wild! Here is a video of pictures and clips from the last year...

Fabric + Freezer Paper Trick

Happy Saturday Everyone! We are having a lazy day here in the camper. Legos, cartoons, and lots of sewing! One of my favorite sewing techniques is to use appliqué.

It is such a versatile and unique way of quilting and crafting. This is a trick I use often. Not only for quilting, but also for the felt pieces used in the Quiet Books I sell on Etsy.

Camper Wall Art

I had a lot of fun with this month's Cent-Sational Salvage Challenge! I have been wanting to make a sign for awhile, but wanted it to be more than just a canvas. For the month of June you could use whatever you wanted! Previously we had been assigned a product to creatively "upcycle".

This months trip to the Habitat Restore was a little disappointing. They did not have much at all. I had intentions of using something a little more "unique" for the challenge. Turns out, I'm really glad with what I found and how it turned out! But my son was a little sad when he saw what I was doing to the fish...

Tied With A Bow Purse

My vintage pillowcase obsession continues to grow with this ADORABLE Tied With A Bow Purse. I have a garbage bag full of treasures I have been finding at thrift and second hand stores. The prints and patterns are so cute and sweet that I just can't get enough of them.

The craft options with these beauties is really endless. What I love most about Vintage Bedding Projects is that they can usually be completed during nap time.

Chair Makeover

For May's Cent-Sational Salvage Challenge we were asked to makeover a chair! I've really been enjoying these challenges.

Lucky for me I'm spending the first few weeks of summer back at home with family and was able to recruit my mom to help me. (I'm 7 months pregnant so it was nice having the help!) Plus she has a great stash of supplies she's been accumulating for years.

Why We Live in an RV!

The looks I get when people first find out we live in an RV never ceases to amuse me. The number one question I am asked is, "Why??" There are a large number of reasons why we have chosen this lifestyle. I have narrowed it down to the most important 2.

1. We have made it a goal to become debt free ASAP.
2. It is very important to my little family that we stay together as a family.
